Daiso Japan Charcoal Cleansing Cream $1.50

Name:  Daiso Japan Charcoal Cleansing Cream 80g
Price:  $1.50 + Tax
Where:  Torrence, CA
What:  A charcoal cleanser designed to get rid of blackheads and dirty pores
Overall Satisfaction:  Not impressed!

I was at Daiso Japan yesterday when I picked up this cleansing cream to try out.  Usually I don't buy anything beauty at all at dollar stores, because the ones in the US are notorious for having no quality skin care or beauty items, and just can't be trusted.  Sometimes they do have actual brand name items though.  I found items such as Revlon, Maybelline, etc. before.

Anyway, my point is, I found myself getting like 40 beauty items from Daiso Japan because everything there was so cute and the way they set the store up makes customers want to spend money carelessly.  Not only that, I really believe in Japanese anything because they are so detailed and a lot of their stuff is good quality.  Based off of other things in the stores and my own experience as a Daiso Japan customer for 4 years now, I know that they have really good stuff.  It's not junk or anything that just breaks down like they would if they were made in China.  Not trying to be negative...just saying.

So, getting to the meat of the article, I woke up this morning determined to try this out.  I've seen 2 beauty gurus on YouTube using this, or owning this item and they really liked it.  I was actually curious but reserved, since this was only a dollar item I knew it wasn't going to promise a miracle makeover lol.

I didn't know what anything said besides the few sentences of directions on the back of the tube because it was in English.  It said to use this cream and rub all over your cleaned face.  It's more of a mask than a cleansing cream.  They said they recommend using this and then using another charcoal cleanser that is sold separately.  Which I didn't even know there were more than one bottle, but they next time I go in Daiso I'll look for it.  After you rub it all over your face, wait and then you're not suppose to wash your face, but rather take a clean tissue and wipe it off.  That was weird.

Just look at the photos.....

Daiso Japan Charcoal Cleansing Cream $1.50 at Torrence, CA

This is my swollen face, makeup free face.  Just woke up not too long after this photo was taken.  I washed my face with my usual Perricone MD Nutritive Cleanser
This is what the cream looks like.  It's gray and I'm guessing it has bits of charcoal particles...lol I really don't know.

Okay, I smeared some on my face and rubbed it into my skin like they said so on the back of the bottle.  It was a really greasy feel and it left my hands feeling really goopy.

This is what the cleansing cream looks like when applied all over my face.  I left it on for about  5 or 6 mins,  I'm guessing because it was slightly dried when I came back in my bathroom.  It didn't take that long for it to dry up.

I just took a few squares of toilet paper and started wiping away.  As you can see, it's the gray charcoal cream on the tissue on the right.  It was pretty easy to wipe off.
After wiping all of the cream off, my face looks refreshed in this photo.  WRONG!  I hated this cream!!!  It was so greasy feeling and I hated it.  I had to clean my face again with my Perricone Nutritive Cleanser (PNC) to get that grease off.  It was almost slimy.  I think if they made it where you wash it off like a normal cream mask it would be okay.  Because this tissue wiping ordeal is not working.  Well, they did say to use the charcoal cleanser afterwards.  So maybe it will work better if I get that and used it together.  I don't know.  But after I washed my face with my PNC, it was okay.  I feel like it didn't really do anything though.  I didn't feel refreshed or any different.  It was the same as if I had never used it.

Oh well, it was only $1.50 and I don't feel so bad about it.  It was like tax money or a drink that I would buy while driving.  I don't feel like I wasted money because I wanted to try this out and it was affordable.  I wouldn't really recommend this though, because it didn't really do much for me.  I do recommend searching for this item on YouTube and watching other people's opinion about it so you can know about the product more in case you were interested in buying it.

  1. Try using this as a makeup remover! It works great that way. Feels a bit greasy, but gets the job done! :)
